the circle of life

last night, Chris, She and I went to the Quincy Theater to see "The Lion King." all the performers were between the ages of 5 and 13 and were absolutely fantastic. if you have lived under a rock, don't have kids or boycott all things Disney, you may not know about the story and the circle of life.

well, my friends, ironically, i experienced my very own, real life example of the circle of life without a brother killing a brother or funny warthogs or hyenas. my circle of life includes taco bell, black cars, indian village {student housing at florida state) and true love.

in 1992, i was fresh in love with a boy who was fresh in love with taco bell. said boy was living in indian village and one night after a party he was hungry for taco bell. {draw your own conclusions as to why.} we headed to the taco bell on west tennessee street for a 59 cent bean burrito. at the drive through, he was loud. {draw your own conclusion as to why.} the taco bell associate spoke the following words VERY CLEARLY: "i will not take your order if you are going to talk like that."

now if you know said boy, and you certainly do if you have known me for 28 years, then you know he's never said an unkind word IN. HIS. LIFE. i intended to show said boy how furious i was with TB's treatment of him. seriously. who in the fresh hell did taco bell girl think she was dealing with?

i am certain i replied to her using some sugary sweet, yet salty language. i then gunned the engine, rocketed to the exit {in my black nissan NX1600 which was about 2 inches about asphalt} and proceeded to turn left onto west tennessee. which would have worked out fine if it weren't for the raised median which appeared a little too late. the sound of metal on concrete is one you don't soon forget. fortunately, no blown tires and no serrated undercarriage meant said boy could still have his 59 cent burrito at north monroe's taco bell.

fast forward to 2019. our nephew is considering indian village as his home away from home for the next three years. his uncle chris, aka said boy, took him to visit indian village yesterday and was reminiscing to me as we drove RIGHT PAST taco bell on west tennessee on our way to quincy. in a black car.

not much has changed in 27 years. i am still fresh in love with the boy who is fresh in love with taco bell. i still drive a black car. the median is still there and if you look closely you can see the gouge we left in the concrete. bean burritos are now $1.09. with glasses, i can see the median before i glide over it.

the circle of life, my friends. the circle of life.
